The Merrymount Association will be hosting its annual Freedom Celebration at the Beach on Wednesday, July 3 from 4:45-9PM. Details below:
  • Volunteers will be needed for set-up, during the event, and clean-up. This is the biggest event of the year so we need as much help as possible! Signup: https://m.signupgenius.com/#!/showSignUp/4090D4CAAAA2CA0FD0-july1
  • Kid's Bike Parade begins at 4:45PM at Merrymount School (don't be late!)
  • We'll have 3 food vendor options
  • Shack will be open for non-alcoholic drinks, ice cream, and snacks (bring cash!!)
  • Beer and wine for sale (bring cash!!)
  • DJ and dancing for the kids
  • Bring chairs and blankets for seating
  • Please leave your dogs and fireworks at home!!
  • This is not a drop off event for children. Children must be supervised by a parent or guardian during the event.

​July 4th Parade - Back to the 20s!

We are excited to announce the July 4 Parade’s Theme - Back to the 20s! In honor of the Association’s 100th Anniversary, we will be celebrating the 1920s for our annual neighborhood parade.

In addition to the founding of our Association, a lot was happening in the Roaring 20s. Women earned the right to vote, Jazz music swept the country, the model T car was mass produced, bootlegging and speakeasies (maybe in Merrymount?) were the natural response to Prohibition, the Great Gatsby was published, and Charles Lindbergh flew across the Atlantic.

Lots of great ideas for Parade floats!!

Setup for the parade begins at 12PM at Merrymount Elementary School and the Parade steps off at 12:30 and concludes at Merrymount Beach by 1:30.

We want to stress how informal the parade is - you do not need a Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade float to enter - a car, boat, bikes, strollers, wagons, your own two feet, etc. are all encouraged! Multiple streets can join together to enter a "float." Please talk to your neighbors about entering and let us know if you know of any other youth groups or organizations that might also want to participate.

Signup up your street, group, family, etc. so we can try to avoid duplicate floats! The Association will provide $100 for those registered by July 2.
