Merrymount Association Sweatshirts & Zip Up Hoodies!
The Merrymount Association 2021 membership drive is now underway and we ask that you please pay your annual dues as soon as possible to help make 2021 another year to remember in Merrymount!
We'll skip the in-depth 2020 review, as that year is firmly in the rearview mirror now, but please know that we need strong membership support to ensure the Association's finances remain strong and that projects and improvements at the Beach can continue in 2021 and beyond. Our goal is 375 membership households and it is vitally important we hit this goal to rebound from this past year where we experienced a slight dip in memberships.
In 2020, using Association dues, the Board approved over $10k in improvements to the Beach property with a significant investment in landscaping and also the extension of the patio in front of the Shack. Despite all of the challenges last year, the Association was as active as ever and continued to host or promote monthly events and activities in a safe manner. We are also proud of the support we were able to offer to the community by hosting multiple donation drives and also doing our part to support local restaurants and businesses.
Plans for 2021 include further landscaping additions as well as improvements to the bathrooms and shack. Taxes, insurance, utilities, and property maintenance costs continue to rise each year as well.
Fingers crossed, we will also get back to holding the larger events we all love at the Beach in 2021 as well. We'll hope for the following: Summer Kickoff Party, July 3rd Beach Celebration, July 4th Parade, Summer Jazz Brunch, Family Fun Day at the Beach, Live Music Nights, Movie Night/Campout, Oktoberfest, Halloween Kids Party, Patriot's Tailgate, Turkey Trot, Ugly Sweater Party, and Horsedrawn Sleigh Rides! But, we'll need strong finances to make sure we host these events as soon as safely able to do so!
Please pay your dues online via paypal on our membership page or by sending in the membership form and check to 76 Longwood Road.
All the best

President

BEACH IMPROVEMENTS
Check out the pictures below of the before and after of our beach improvement at Merrymount Beach. You’ll find an expanded patio, new plantings, restored and enhanced slope toward the beach, and a new tree to provide much needed shade in the play area. Still to come will be another new picnic table and hopefully more landscaping through the season as we see how everything grows.
PLEASE, please, please, and pretty please stay off and out of the newly planted beds and gardens. Dogs must be leashed at the beach. Please use the two sets of steps to get to the beach and don’t walk down the newly planted slopes.
Thank you to all who have paid their dues this year as that makes beach improvements possible. For those who have not, please do so here: http://www.merrymountquincy.com/membership.html
Beach improvements continue with a granite ramp down to the beach - perfect for your kayak or stroller! Thank you to Joe Connor for the vision on this part of the project and for MJ Nicholls Landscaping for all their work at the beach this spring. Please a continued reminder to stay out of the newly planted garden beds and to keep your dogs leashed at the beach!
