Why should I be a member if I am away most of the summer and don’t participate in any events?
You and your family may not participate in any planned events, but you may use the beach during the summer or grab a hotdog and drink at the snack bar. You also may just drive by our beautiful and private beach on your way to work each morning. Membership dues pay for the maintenance of that beach, including cutting the grass, planting flowers, and collecting refuse in the summer. In the winter that effort continues with seasonal decorations and more clean-up activities. A beautiful beach is not only great to look at, but adds to your property value as well.
Doesn’t the Association get enough funds through dues? Where does the money go?
All dues are channeled right back into the organization to pay for beach maintenance and improvements, utilities at the snack bar, events such as the July 4th parade, insurance and taxes. All of these expenses continue to increase each year.
But, aren’t there enough members already? Why is my support and membership necessary?
Less than one-third of the total households in Merrymount are Association members. However, landscaping, maintenance and improvement costs continue to rise. To continue our mission, we need more members and more member volunteers to help out with events and improvements.
Okay, I’m convinced. But, how do I get more involved in the Association?
Contact a Merrymount board member or feel free to email [email protected] and let them know you want to get involved. We are especially interested in family members with young children who would like to help plan and coordinate age-appropriate events. Contact names are in the newsletters every resident receives.
